John David Brantley (1839-1907) He was born April 24, 1839 in Kemper County, MS. His mother was Nancy Jane McFarland. His father is believed to be Thomas Brantley. This Thomas may have been married to two women at the same time. Thomas was the son of Jesse Brantley, of Thomas (died 1777 in Northampton County, NC and great grandson of Clay Brantley, of John, of Edward BrantlyI. His grandmother MacFarland returned from Texas to get Nancy Jane and baby John around 1840. He married Susan Mary Woods and lived in DeWitt County, Texas for many years. They issued five children. John David died October 13, 1907 in Mason County, TX.
